today is the first time that i accessed this website. It is wonderful and brings about info that I never knew. Many of the people mentioned I didn’t have the chance to meet, although I can remember a few like Uncle Lofton,Uncle Ed,Uncle Leslie and so forth also Aunt Ada, Julia& Esther. And my favorite of my dad’s sisters Aunt Frances(RIP). Flick must have been dedicated to this project and I hope that some of us will continue where he left off so that our children can know even more about the family history.

Hello, I accidently stumbled across your website and it pricked my interest. I am one of the white Autrys (I reside in Stedman, in Cumberland county). I find of interest the names of some of the white slave owners in your website. Some of the names are familiar to me. My father was Lacy Alexander Autry (born 1920), and his father was William Autry. Daddy was raised in the Stedman community near the Sampson county line. Grandaddy Will (as he was called), I never knew as he died around 1930, and one of his brothers was George Autry and he resided in the Bonnettsville area of Sampson county (just outside of Clinton). Although I am not well versed on my family history, I would be willing to bet my Great Uncle George, and Grandaddy Will are related to the George Autry in your website. Such a small world it is. I may try to do some research of my on after visiting your site. I thank you for your time. Daniel (Wayne) Autry, Stedman, NC.

We are all so proud that Clarence (Flick) began this work and took it to such a great extent. What a legacy to leave…a written legacy of his family. I am the granddaughter of Esther Louise Autry McLean. She passed away on July 8, 2007 at the age of 92. We are losing a generation, that we somehow, never thought of their actual mortality…at least I didn’t. I’ve never known life without Grandma until this time. It is so different. She was a GOOD woman as all who knew her can and will attest to. I challenge all of us to live life as she did…help as many people as she did without expecting anything in return…be an encourager for everyone as she was… How I wish that she were still around…yet I am confident that she is a happy, content and healthy woman as she rejoices in heaven! I miss her and my brother (Huey) who both passed this year…along with others in our extended family. Thanks to all who are continuing this work. It is such a tribute to our families.

After continuing to read on this website, I was able to determine that my family is one of the “Other Autry Families” from Sampson County (Dismal Township) referenced on the site. I am the great-great-grandson of William Autry, the great-grandson of John B L Autry, and the grandson of Arthur Autry. I commend Mr. Allen for his research and regret I was not able to meet him before he passed away.

I am Nanette Simmons Autry from Fernandina Beach, FL. I am very pleased to see this site! My son, Gary is an African American Studies major at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. He is very much interested in his Autry family history. The work that has been done by Allen is mind-boggling! I have been searching and searching because on yesterday, I stumbled across an obituary in our Jacksonville, FL paper of a Crafton L. Autry who was originally from Autryville, N.C. I was determined to find something concerning our people. My son will be so pleased about Allen Omega.com. Please continue his legacy of love. There is so much to learn and so much to pass on to the future generations. We would be interested in knowing about any family reunions. There are a great deal of Autrys ain Noortheast FL and Georgia.

I was internet surfing and decided to google the name Braxton Autry, who is my paternal grandfather This website came up, much to my surprise. My grandmother’s name is Daisy as well. After reading some of the entries, I discovered that two of my first cousins have signed in, Loise Smith and Bernice leonard. All of the information that I have received about our paternal grandparents have come from Louise and Bernice. My father never spoke of his father at all only to say that he had a lot of brothers and sisters. From my understanding, my father put the “e” in Autrey, but the original spelling of the family surname is Autry. My sister and I would like to know a lot more about my father’s side of the family and my cousins, my history! Thanks for starting this website

My name is Anthony Johnson. I am the son of the late Levi Johnson, grandson of the late Almon f Johnson. The last time i saw my cousin flick, he was living at white late in a mobile home. i spoke to him since that time in a telephone conversation. I had no idea that his health was felling at that time. It sadden my heart to know thathe is no longer with us, however he did tell me when we last talked that he had giving his life to the lord. Its good to know that he is resting in the hands of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

I don’t know how many days I’ve come back to this site since July 2006 but, I regret not knowing more about “Flick” during his lifetime. This is amazing work and I will feel forever blessed to have the opportunity to learn this much about my family’s past. This is so rare for African Americans. It gives me more power to live the life I know I should, one of pride and of faith. I only pray that myself and/or my contemporaries will find the wisdom and motivation to continue recording our rich family history. Thanks to all who are involved. Most of all, thank you Flick.
